The beautiful Elgin Cathedral – by now only ruins – costed hundred of years of work to generations of clergymen, masons and craftsmen. Then came a king who wanted divorce and a pope who gave no dispensation. A new Church rose. Old religious places were burnt down. Elgin Cathedral lost its roof and walls, becoming the ruins it is now. The life and work of thousands of people were wasted, but who cared? The king desired a new wife.
