Foxconn’s Brave New World

So Foxconn announced the replacement of human suicidal labor with an army of robots. The message seems to be: “stop killing yourself or struggling for better labour conditions, and don’t even think about seriously organizing. Or we’ll substitute you with machines”. But the threat is dubious. Foxconn holds a factory town where hundreds of thousands of cheap chinese workers are employed. Much more cheap than drones.

Nonsense history of Elgin Cathedral

The beautiful Elgin Cathedral – by now only ruins – costed hundred of years of work to generations of clergymen, masons and craftsmen. Then came a king who wanted divorce and a pope who gave no dispensation. A new Church rose. Old religious places were burnt down. Elgin Cathedral lost its roof and walls, becoming the ruins it is now. The life and work of thousands of people were wasted, but who cared? The king desired a new wife.
